Foodtrucks på campus Valla
Tidigare i veckan var LinTeks kårordförande och vice kårordförande på Studentråd tillsammans med representanter från de andra studentkårerna, enhetschefen för Campusutvecklingsenheten och biträdande universitetsdirektör gällande foodtrucks på campus. Här kommer en statusuppdatering!
De anledningar LiU lyft som skäl att avsluta foodtruck-verksamheten:
- LiU anser att Zenit och den nya restaurangen i Studenthus Valla tillgodoser det behov av varierad mat som krävs på campus och att foodtrucks därför inte längre fyller ett syfte.
- Engångsartiklarna från foodtrucks motverkar LiUs önskade krav på hållbarhet.
- LiU tror att foodtrucks har brutit avtal och stått på plats när de inte får. Det exempel som lyfts var dock under SOF, då LinTek hade ett eget avtal då vi använde området.
- Foodtrucks betalar inte för sin plats, vilket är orättvist mot de andra restaurangerna på campus. Ingen aktuell undersökning har dock gjorts gällande om foodtrucks är villiga att betala för den plats de använder.
LinTek anser inte att dessa argument är tillräckliga eller att de är orsak att stänga ner foodtruck-verksamheten och har meddelat LiU att vi kommer att fortsätta att arbeta för teknologernas åsikt i detta. Vi anser också att det finns ytterligare anledningar att behålla foodtrucksen på campus som LiU inte tagit hänsyn till, till exempel att antalet restauranger på campus inte är tillräckligt för att tillgodose alla studenter under en lunchrast. LiU har efter Studentrådet lovat att undersöka om foodtrucksen vill stanna kvar på campus under samma krav som övriga restauranger på campus har.

The president of the union and the vice president of the union met with representants of LiU earlier this week to discuss the food trucks at campus. Here is an update!
The reasons that the university have given to remove the food trucks are:
- Zenit and the new restaurant in the new student house caters for the students and that food trucks therefore no longer are necessary.
- The disposable articles from the food trucks go against LiUs standards for sustainability.
- LiU believe that the food trucks have broken the agreements that they have with the university. One example was during SOF but then the food trucks had a special agreement with LinTek since we were using the area.
- Food trucks does not pay for being at campus, which is unfair to the other restaurants at campus. No recent investigation have been done regarding whether or not the food trucks are willing to pay for their spots.
LinTek deems that these arguments are not strong enough to shut down the food trucks and have informed the university that we will keep working for the technology and science students opinion on the matter. We also deem that there is further reasons to keep the food trucks at campus which the university have not taken into consideration, for example that the number of restaurants is too small. LiU have promised to investigate whether the food trucks are willing to stay at campus with the same conditions as the rest of the campus restaurants.
